Permitting Fees Temporarily Waived for Ida Related Damages

Building, Repairing, & Demolishing Requirements
Gretna, LA: The City of Gretna is temporarily waiving permit fees through December 31, 2021, for the building, repairing, and demolishing of structures due to damages sustained by Hurricane Ida. Please remember that you are required to obtain a permit from the City of Gretna to build, repair or demolish any and all structures.
Residents may apply online by visiting www.MyGovernmentOnline.org or by coming in person to the Building Department at Gretna City Hall (740 2nd Street).
Permits are NOT required for the following work:
- Change of roof covering only and/or gutter work with respect to one- and two-family dwellings. If the roof decking needs to be replaced, a permit is required;
- Replacement of vinyl siding or other non-structural exterior wall covering on one- or two- family dwellings only;
- Fence repairs provided the fence remains in the existing location, is the same height, type and design and the fence is not moved from where it was pre-storm.
Please keep in mind when a property is located in a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA), any AE Zones within our City, the resident may be required to indicate that the lowest floor shall be at the Base Flood Elevation (BFE) on the Flood Insurance Rate Map FIRM by providing an elevation certificate. This is required when a property is substantially damaged or being gutted or substantially improved.
