Community Hazard Mitigation Meeting- March 21

The Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan is being updated through a collaborative effort with unincorporated Jefferson Parish, the cities of Gretna, Harahan, Westwego, and the towns of Grand Isle and Jean Laffite. A public Meeting to discuss the plan update is scheduled for Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the Edith Lawson Library in Westwego at 3:00pm.

The public is invited to help identify community assets, describe natural hazard concerns, and assists in prioritizing proposed mitigation actions. For information on the HMP update process, visit our website at jeffparish.net/HMP.

An approved plan allows the Parish and participating municipalities to apply for federal funds for projects prioritized in the plan. The plan is also designed to support GOHSEP’s statewide Hazard Mitigation Plan and enhance coordination efforts between local, state, and federal agencies during times of disaster.
