Basketball Program Open for Registration

The Gretna Recreation Department is now accepting applications for basketball to all children ages 5-17. The number of spectators will be limited based on COVID-19 guidelines and everyone will be expected to wear a mask and have their temperature taken when entering the building.

Coaches are needed for all age groups.

Games will be held at the Mel Ott Recreation Center starting no earlier than 6pm.  Some games may be held on Saturday. Practices will start in November with games starting in December. These are estimated start times.

Participants residing in Gretna (70053 or Timberlane) are eligible to play intramurals and all-stars at no charge.
Children from Orleans and Plaquemines are welcome to play in our intramural league for a fee. These participants are not eligible for all-stars.
Children who live in Jefferson Parish, outside of incorporated Gretna, must have a current waiver on file or request a waiver from their home playground prior to registration.

Each participant must have a birth certificate, parent’s driver’s license and a gas, water or electric bill on file with the Gretna Recreation Department in order to participate in our programs.

**Tryouts for the Biddy teams may start earlier than date listed above.  Participants who are on waivers or are not residents of Gretna (70053 and Timberlane) are not eligible for the Biddy teams.
