Code Enforcement

The Code Enforcement Department’s primary responsibility is to enforce sections of the municipal code that address property nuisances, building life-safety issues, environmental protection and all other elements of the code that protect the safety and welfare of our citizens and promote an attractive environment. When violations are found, the Department works with citizens to achieve compliance through an efficient and fair process.

Violations That Contribute to the Decline of a Neighborhood

  • Grass and weeds over 12 inches
  • Trash and debris
  • Storing or parking junked, inoperable and/or dismantled vehicles
  • Major auto repair work in open yards
  • Oversized vehicles, commercial vehicles, trailers, RVs, mobile homes and boats that are not properly screened
  • Excessive signage and advertisement on public right-of-way
  • Structures in disrepair
  • Unsecured vacant and/or derelict houses
